Neurofeedback
There is significant amount of literature that shows that neurofeedback helps children with ADHD to self-regulate, manage emotions and focus, when paired with medication as well as when medication is not chosen or effective.
The Neurofeedback program begins with an in-depth clinical assessment that includes a medical and social history. A qEEG is completed using a non-invasive headband that measures brain amplitudes when participating in a focused activity. The results are interpreted and shared, then the protocol is developed. The headband goes across the child's forehead as they participate in a video game that rewards the nervous system (operant conditioning) when they produce amplitudes that assist with alertness or relaxation, whichever the established goal.
The child and family are trained on the system in home or setting of their choice and then download the app, rent the headband and log on and "train" for 15-20 min 3x per week over 3 months. The OT provides weekly check-ins and follows the clients progress on their system.
Program fee includes assessment, training on the system, access to neurofeedback system, headband rental, weekly check-ins and progress reporting over 3 months.
